To raise awareness of available resources and invite active participation, the WSIZ team is holding monthly in-person and virtual networking and informational events, as well as a series of speaker engagements to spotlight Wheaton-based sustainability-focused community business leaders.  

During these events, the WSIZ team will disseminate detailed plans to members of the Wheaton community on the goals of our work including:  

• access to green spaces;  

• access to clean energy at home, work, and in modes of transportation; 

• access to green waste processing such as recycling and composting; adoption of flooding and stormwater mitigation strategies;  

• support for entrepreneurs and small businesses in the community.  

WORKSHOPS

Building on their existing B Corp training and consulting program and leadership in promoting green business certification. Bethesda Green will conduct workshops to introduce Wheaton-based businesses to B Corp and Montgomery County Green Business Certification. Bethesda Green will also provide 80 hours of free, 1:1 consultation to Wheaton-based business leaders to assist them through the certification process.
